Jonathan Angin, Vice President of Business Development – Tetra Tech
Jonathan Angin is Vice President of Business Development for Tetra Tech, one of the largest environmental consulting firms in the world, where he is responsible for growing the company’s solid waste practice on a global basis. Previously, he was Principal and Founder of Columbia Business Resources, an international strategic planning consulting firm. Mr. Angin has more than twenty-five years of experience in the solid waste management and recycling industry, ranging from strategic planning and business development to hands on operating knowledge. He has taken a leadership role in assisting both municipalities and the private sector in taking their solid waste management strategies to the “next level” by advocating the elements of sustainability and environmental stewardship through new technologies with an emphasis on customized integrated waste handling strategies utilizing conversion technologies for energy recovery.
Mr. Angin’s depth of experience encompasses the disciplines of operations, maintenance, finance, human resources, business development, sales, safety, emergency and disaster management planning and response, procurement and environmental compliance. He has been responsible for the oversight of multi-million dollar publicly and privately held assets including a variety of solid waste and recycling collection operations; “Subtitle D” Municipal Solid Waste, “Subtitle C” Hazardous Waste and “Class II” Inert landfills; transfer stations; intermodal facilities; recyclables processing and buyback centers; material recovery facilities; waste-to-energy transportation and logistics planning; multi-modal transportation infrastructure; call centers; and payment processing operations. Mr. Angin has held executive level management positions in the solid waste industry with Waste Management, a Fortune 500 company, and the largest provider of solid waste management services in North America. He served as their Northwest Region Vice President, where he was responsible for all of the company’s operations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska and Western Canada, as well as specialized landfills in California. He managed more than $700 million in annual revenues and 2500+ employees. Prior to Waste Management, Mr. Angin was employed by Norcal Waste Systems (now known as Recology), one of the largest privately held companies in the industry. During his career, Mr. Angin has taken lead roles in more than one hundred business acquisitions and hundreds of municipal proposals, rate applications and program implementations. Mr. Angin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Combined Sciences, and an MBA with an emphasis in finance. He is also a graduate of the University of Oregon Sustainability Leadership Program and has completed post graduate work in public policy and strategic planning.
